Re: points swap for PerTronics

I put a pertronix in my 250 a few months ago. I had trouble with starts, found that the resistor wire was the problem. Run a wire from the pos side of battery to the coil. See if it will start, won't be able to shut off until wire is disconnected from battery or coil. Search converting to hei.

Re: points swap for PerTronics

well i got the 283 with points running. first i wanna say thks for all the input!!!! turns out i had poor ground and positive connection, i was using jumper cable off the battery to the starter and block. it worked a few times, less often then more. so i keep going over everything and brought out my fancy NOS packard power and ground wires and attached it and hooked up a battery charger to the battery and BAM!!! it fired right up. shut it off BAM!!! starts up everytime. the engine runs soo smooth no shakes, knocks, vibration, smoke nothing, just smooth all the way up the rpm band. also i checked the compression with the starter ground properly. i have 105psi throughout all cylinders, 55pounds of oil pressure and stay'd at 195 degrees on the temp gauge, guess the guy i bought it from really did freshly rebuild it. so the moral is ck the simple stuff first!!!
