How many miles on your 6.0?

I am considering a high mileage 2005 Denali with the 6.0 with 245,000 miles on it. If you have this engine, how many miles do you have on yours?
For the record, it has a rebuilt trans, differential, brakes, bearings, suspension components and steering,... The same shop has worked on it since new and most of these things have been within the last 2/3 years.

Re: How many miles on your 6.0?

64,000 on mine. And i only put the last 3,000 of them on the truck, as i recently bought the truck last december. So i can't really offer any advice just or opinions just yet.

Re: How many miles on your 6.0?

I have had my '06 Siolverado with the 6.0L in it since 2010 and it now has 120,000 miles on it. I tow a 30 foot 5th wheel with it, and it is my daily driven rig. The only thing that has been a problem for me is that it snapped an exhaust manifold bolt in the head and was a bear to fix, but I did it myself.

Here is the link to that: http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=587659

I have been completely happy with my 6.0L since I have owned it, and have put many of those 120,000 miles on it myself.

Re: How many miles on your 6.0?

Most of the super high mileage (250,000+) trucks with this motor seem to be work trucks that are under heavy load and stop and go conditions. 300,000 and even 400,000 doesn't seem too far fetched on some work trucks. Is it just that work trucks are kept that long and daily drivers are not? What happens after consumer trucks with that many miles are traded in? They seem to disappear. So it seems these engines can take it when called on, but there is a fear of trusting it to unless it is needed (work trucks).

Re: How many miles on your 6.0?

I can tell you that since the LS based engines are so popular, and the aftermaerket has exploded with parts availability, i plan on rebuilding mine when the time comes to do so. I love my '06 with the 6.0!

WOW! That is a lot of miles. The more reading and researching I am doing, the more confident I am that this is a good option that will continue to be reliable.

Re: How many miles on your 6.0?

I have dealt with them on a vocational level, 300,000 is what the average service life is in NPR-HD/Chevy W-4500.

It is easy to tell if they have been run hard....Broken exhaust manifold bolts.

Re: How many miles on your 6.0?

I have a 2000 GMG K2500 with the 6.0L and 4L80E with 4:10 gears. All original...nothing but the fuel pump and water pump replaced. 158,000 and running like a champ. Has a bit of a drinking problem...LOL
