Lower Left Dash Repair

In my truck, over the years the parking brake didn't work right and the pedal would fly up and hit the bottom of my dash. (This is from the PO, I wouldn't let this happen). As a result, the dash is broken under there. I'll have to get a picture, but I need advice. Should I try to straighten the metal out and weld up the cracks, or is it easier to cut this piece out and patch it with a piece out of another truck? Has anyone done this repair and have pictures?

Re: Lower Left Dash Repair

I did a repair like that when I did a cab swap. Mine was an 83 and the new cab was from an 84 so the wiper switch and high beam switch were different. Remove the dash pad and gauge cluster, and make your cut by the gauges. There is also a bolt on the left side by the kick panel. You'll have to swap your VIN tag, or get creative with your cutting and welding. But it worked flawlessly for me, it's a pretty easy job for anyone with a mig welder.

Re: Lower Left Dash Repair

I've got a whole dash I can cut that piece out of if you need it. I just needed the radio section. Just pay shipping.

Re: Lower Left Dash Repair

That would really help me out man. What color is the dash (I don't really care, I can paint it)? And how much will shipping be to 98273?

Here's pictures... If you can, cut it at the A/C vent hole, and straight across. That gives you less metal to cut, and when I weld it in, it'll be mostly covered up by the gauge bezel.

I've marked the cut. And I've circled the damage.
