Sanding Primer
When I bought my truck the guy had used rattle can primer and painted the whole truck, my dad gave me the idea to use wet Sand paper and see if I could get the primer off, sure enough it came right off, now I have a originally hot rodish' paint job!

Cheap lacquer thinner would have washed it off with no effort and no more scratching to the truck. Plus it has the neat added side effect of getting you higher than a kite while doing it. It's a win win situation and enjoyable for the whole family.
