what width rear axle to use for 1965 ?????????????????
I am building a 1965 to lay on the frame. I got the 1983 5 lug disc brake front and a rear axle from a guy in town but the rear axle seems to wide it is around 66" wide.
My question is what is the best 5 lug axle width to use for my truck? Last edited by ronniehotdog; 05-24-2014 at 10:53 AM. |

Re: what width rear axle to use for 1965 ?????????????????
The '63-'70 12 bolts are 62" WMS to WMS and are all have the 6 x 5.5 wheel stud pattern. The '71-'87 10 and 12 bolts are 63.5" wide and the C series units have the 5 x 5 pattern. That is the narrowest factory differential with the 5 x 5 pattern that I know of. If you need one narrower, you can simply purchase the 5 x 5 conversion axles for your current 12 bolt.
