I'm tired of my back hurting all the time, I need to buy one. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Randy

Re: Whats a good battery packed impact to buy?

My brother is a mechanic by trade and swears by Makita. There's a pretty nice set on amazon for about $180 he's trying to get me to buy. They are pricey, but his gets beat to hell and never quits.

Re: Whats a good battery packed impact to buy?

impact for what purpose? if your looking to replace an air gun like an ingersol... good luck aint gonna happen.

i dont think any of them can pop a lug off of a tire.

that being said i have 3 or 4 18v impacts and maybe even a 24v impact...

i have millwaukee, makita, rigid and dewalt

also be careful, they well snap crappy chinese and pot metal screws and bolts

Re: Whats a good battery packed impact to buy?

We have a Milwaukee kit at work that has an 18v 1/2" impact. It work surprisingly well. Used it a few time to take wheels off and general use when don't feel like fighting a air hose. Pretty happy with it. I wish DeWalt would come out with one for their newer 20v.

One of them we just leave a 3/4" adapter and use it on big stuff like 1 1/2" & up nuts to tighten up all kinds of flanges and fittings. It gets rained on, dropped in the mud, beat up and keeps going. I did have one fail after a guy dropped it right in a puddle of water and soaked it, then tried to use it right after and smoked the motor. But Ingersoll warrantied it and we got another.

We also have an 18v dewalt 1/2" drive impact and it is stout for its size, (it's smaller & lighter than the IR) but it isn't as strong as the IR.

Re: Whats a good battery packed impact to buy?

I have a DeWalt and I like it. I don't have anything to compare it to though. That IR looks like a monster. If I was taking trucks apart like you are, I would buy the IR.

Re: Whats a good battery packed impact to buy?

I use the same IR 20v impact, it's got ALOT of torque. It has easily replaced my IR 1/2" air impact (ir2135ti) both are rated for 780 ft/lbs, but the electric kicks it's butt.

Re: Whats a good battery packed impact to buy?

Nice, let us know how it works out. I've never had a problem with the makita, in fact he just bought another set and brought his old ones home to use for his projects.
