Gas Tank ground??
my guage on my 70 works somedays and then others it just reads empty.. I know it's not empty... Do I have a bad ground? is it the guage ground or the tank?

The tank is grounded to the truck which make the wire going to it a very low positive. I don't think that you have a bad ground. I do think that you have a wire loose behind the gauge cluster. The wire might me grounding out somewhere.

i think you got a bad sending unit, your float may not be foating,if it werent getting a ground it wood go waaayy past full. thats my input!! mrmagoo

The first place I aways check is under the plate when you open the drivers door....The wire runs under there and gets damaged

If it works sometimes then I would suspect the sending unit wire. Usually a ground is a ground on those tanks. The float will work or not. Trace the wire from the tank back up to the dash. Often the connection at the tank is loose or as mentioned, the routing of the wire under the door sill plate will get pinched.
