Re: 78 gmc shortbox 4 x 4

the 78 white truck was bought in 80 by my father and went through a few incarnations before I purchased it from him two years ago. I then bought a completely rusted out 85 4x4 short box. combined them together. 85 frame and suspension , 87 box, 78 cab and front clip

Re: 78 gmc shortbox 4 x 4

I love this truck! It is just the way it should look! I am doing my 77 GMC shortbed essentially the same way. It has a 35s on it now but I want to bring it back down to closer to stock so it is more driveable. I have 15x10 slotted mags for mine

Nice. I think it is the wheels that do the trick!

Good choice on going with the slotted mags! The outlaw wheels look fine but the slots just fit it!

Re: 78 gmc shortbox 4 x 4

the paint is rustoleum it took 2 quarts black 1 quart grey 2 quarts 100% minerals spirits . you us 4 inch foam rollers mix paint and mineral spirits 50 / 50 it is runny like water . paint 1 coat let dry paint second coat let dry then sand with 600 grit then two more coats sand with 800 grit two more coats sand with 1000 grit two more coats sand 2000 grit then buff actual cost $ 160 for paint , mineral spirits , rollers, sand paper , and rubbing compound. I did one coat a day took approx. one hour to do so. let dry over night then did next coat.
