Ideas on chrome headlight rings for 77?

I bought some of the plastic reproduction headlight rings, but they fit horribly. I decided to take my factory rings to the local chrome shop and just have them freshened up. Well, I heard back yesterday that I should expect them to cost about $400 each! I declined.

I expected about $250 for the pair and want good quality. I am willing to ship them off to a shop that someone has used with good results. Anyone have any ideas besides Mexico?

Thanks for the help

I have had a lot of chrome done for me by JB's Chrome Shop here in Portland. Excellent quality and fair enough prices. Ask for Warren.

Re: Ideas on chrome headlight rings for 77?

Head down to the pull-a-part on 27th Avenue around Lincoln, right by the tracks. Last year I pulled a perfect set off a truck and sold them for around $80 for the pair. Its a hit and miss type of thing but there are several places in the valley, also craiglist.

Hope that helps

Re: Ideas on chrome headlight rings for 77?

Hey guys - thanks for the tips. After doing some more checking around, apparently, these factory headlight rings are made of pot metal and that makes chroming them very time consuming. With a new level of motivation, I tried the plastic rings again, and what do you know - they are not that bad after all! Once again, thanks for taking the time to respond to my question!
