Driver door stuck shut.

I searched and couldn't find a specific answer to this question.

1964 GMC.
My drivers door is stuck shut. Not totally shut but where it loosely rattles.
The truck has been stood since 1993 so PB blaster has been used

The mechanism pulls the 2 hooks away from the barrel that latches to the latch on the B pillar but that barrel doesn't seem to want to spin to let the door open.

I may just be seized but I wanted to ask if anything obvious happens to stop that barrel from spinning?

Thanks for any help and sorry for these annoying little questions.

Did you try prying it open?

I was hoping to try and see if anything goes wrong alot with the door catches.

I'm hoping obviously to not to have to resort to that.

From the inside I've put a fair amount of pressure and rattles it back and forth.

Re: Driver door stuck shut.

I ran into this once on my '65 truck. I had to use a pry bar to GENTLY pry up the door from the rocker while I had my wife pushing the button and pulling on the door. It finally popped open. I then readjusted the door striker so it wouldn't stick anymore. Worked perfect. Remember, up with the door, not trying to pry it open.

Re: Driver door stuck shut.

Is there anything you can do from the inside? Possibly take off the door panel and work on the latch from the inside of the door.

Re: Driver door stuck shut.

I just bought a 66 that the passenger door wouldn't open, even shouldering the door from the inside. Pushed the button on the outside and gently nudged it with a screw driver and it popped right open. After that it opened and closed fine but it needs a little oil. I have run into this situation several times with trucks that sit outside a long time.

Re: Driver door stuck shut.

Yeah just got it open yesterday.
Prybar and a couple of friends did the trick!

I tool the lock mechanism out and the "star wheel" that latches onto the latch is completely seized.
It started turning after about 24 hrs of spraying with PB blaster.
