3/4 ton hubcap tool??
A while ago there was a thread that had a picture of a tool that was described as a 3/4 ton hubcap tool. Apparently these where included in the 3/4 ton tool pouch? Does anyone have any info or pictures of this tool? Thanks, Lee

Found it, now to find one. Firstowner69 posted it in a different thread.

Re: 3/4 ton hubcap tool??
The original tool would be nice to have to complete the set, but in all honesty, is likely to scratch your steelies up and bend your caps. This is what I use, and I even wrap a rag around that. You can get it at harbor freight for almost nothing

Re: 3/4 ton hubcap tool??
Actually, it has never damaged my caps. As Mister-B suggested, I do seem to recall putting a rag where it contacts the wheel. The cupped end goes under the hubcap lip.The one Mister-B pictured should work just as well, or better. However, if you are a purist, you probably want the original. Just a case of functionality vs. originality.

I have a tool similar to the one AJ pictured that I use, however I do want an original tool for the bag.

Here is the style that came in my one owner '71 3/4 ton. It is wider and has just a slight curve to it. LockDoc

Re: 3/4 ton hubcap tool??
I know mine is original unless it was changed at the dealersip before I bought the truck. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a running change or from a different supplier. There are so many things that changed from year to year, but very few folks think about that.

Re: 3/4 ton hubcap tool??
I have also come across the one Leon has pictured. Interestingly enough it too came from a 71 C-20.

Still looking for one of these tools. Prefer the 23" tool. Thanks, Lee.

Re: 3/4 ton hubcap tool??
I have the longer one,but never use it. The best tool ever for removing hubcaps is what I call a lamb's paw. Most carpenters call them cat's paws (although cats have more than two toes) and everyone knows them as nail pullers. They fit in that narrow space between the hubcaps and rim. With the slightest motion the hubcaps pop right off. I use a rag to protect the wheel and have never put a mark on a hubcap.
