ball joints
hello I was wondering if upper and lower ball joints from a 71/72 C30 or 73 to 80 C30 would fit in upper and lower arms in a 63 C30?
thanks |

Re: ball joints
At least at the Moog web page, they state different part numbers.

Re: ball joints
I know the diameter and length of the shaft is proble different, but I was wondering if its that same diameter of the part that preccess into the lower arms

Re: ball joints
yeah I just picked up a 63 C30 and im thinking I might try to saftie it and it would probly be easier to put disks on it then to try and rebuild and find parts for the drums
and I was looking and I don't think the mounting is the same for where the lower arms go to the cross member |

Re: ball joints
Drums on the front are super easy and cheap to rebuild, even if you need to replace everything but the backing plates. Try Rockauto.com for the parts (that's where I get stuff at).
BTW, the only thing that will be potentially hard to find or expensive about the brake system would be rear brake drums for the original rear end. |

Re: ball joints
Yes the '63-'66 C20 &30 lower control arms have a flat shaft instead of a round shaft. So the whole crossmember would need to be changed to accomodate the later model lower control arms. Now according to member Tincan66, the '63-'66 lower control arms need just a little honeing to accomodate the disc brake ball joints. IIRC it is only about .005 that they need to be opened up.
