Outer Tie Rod Ends Torque Specs??
1985 GMC K2500 4x4 VIN M
I'm currently replacing tie rod ends and the steering stabilizer. If anyone has the torque specs for the castle nut on the out tie rods ends that would be great! When i started working on this truck i realized the previous owners messed a lot of things up. I couldnt figure out why my master cylinder would not stop leaking from the cover.... then after some home work they had a 1/2ton MC installed on my 3/4ton HD truck. no good lol. So when i started this tie rod job i realized the same problem was back again. They installed 7/8 Thread tie rod/centerlink setup from a 1/2ton on my truck. FOOLS!!! lol Anyway, the torque specs would be great! and is there a free website or something that list all of the torque specs? Thanks |

Re: Outer Tie Rod Ends Torque Specs??
From what I have it says Tighten the steering linkage nuts to 45 ft. lbs. Nothing for the specs for the castle nut on the out tie rods .

Re: Outer Tie Rod Ends Torque Specs??
I don't think there is a torque for that since you have to line it up with the hole in the tie rod end to put the cotter pin in.

Re: Outer Tie Rod Ends Torque Specs??
I did 35ftlbs plus 1/3 turn and it actually lined up nicely with holes for cotter pin. Thanks
