Dash lites

How do the dash lites come out of a 64. Do they come out of the back side of the dash,or came I take the dash bezel off and pull then out? Does any one sell brighter ones?

Re: Dash lites

They come out from the back and they just pull out. I have found that if I take the plug and push left /right / up or down it will smap out. I do not know if anyone makes a brighter bulb. Good Luck.

Re: Dash lites

The downside of installing the LED's is you loose being able to dim them, BUT since the most common complaint or reason to upgrade is because they are too dim...problem most likely takes care of itself. You can also freshen up the inside of the cluster housing with bright white paint and get rid of the green glow.

Re: Dash lites

I may try the aluminum tape. Is there any thing I could paint inside to make the lites brighter?

Re: Dash lites

I haven't done it yet, but many guys upgrade from the 194 bulbs to the 168's. They're about 50% brighter.

Re: Dash lites

Very simply put, all you have to do is run a dedicated ground all the way to your dashboard cluster, then, make sure you have a good connection between each socket and that ground, via the hole the socket plugs into. I have done this, and my dashboard is extremely bright. No problem seeing it at all.

If you really want better, brighter lights, check out M.A.D. Electrical's website, and upgrade your grounding and power systems.
