Frame Identification

Need some help identifying this pickup frame. It's 125 1/4 WB and has 8 lug hubs. Would this have been a 3/4 ton or 1 ton? Maybe this picture of the diff will help. Trying to decide if I should shorten it and use it under the 101-24 I just got. I'll take some better pics of any specific area if it will help. Thanks! Rick

The manual link in my signature lands you on the 56 TF frame dim page. If its an AD scroll down, select the year index, select your year, and look for frame specs. Depth, width and thickness will tell you exactly what it is.

GMC and Chevy trucks of that year didn't use interchangeable frames. So a TF frame would not fit a 101-24, 1 ton was 137" frame

Thanks for replying. The cab mounts on the 101-24 sit in the right places, the battery tray is right. The length (125) is of course wrong so the bed doesn't fit right. What about the 8 lug wheels? Did 8 lug come on 3/4 tons. And did 3/4 tons have a differential like the one in the above picture?

And if Chevy and GMC frames were not interchangeable in 54, then this must be a GMC frame, correct? Been looking through the link OrrieG listed but haven't gotten anywhere yet. Thanks Again!, Rick

not sure about ad trucks, but on the tf trucks the 3/4 t 3600 frame is the same as the lwb 3200 frame
and has a hump in the frame over the rear axle
the 1 t 3800 frame is straight over the rear axle

looking at the springs it looks like 1/2 t 3100 springs
and the cross members look like tf frame

well its not a 1/2 ton or a 1 ton so i'd say its a 3/4 and that rear would have come in a 3/4. Id need to see the front of the frame where the radiator sits to tell if its gmc
