Whos got a pro touring style truck?

I'm actually going to think about making my truck into a corner carving machine. Just wondering if anyone else here has one in the works or already done? If so what kind of parts did you use and where can I get parts to make my truck handle? Control arms? Rear suspension setups? I don't want to clip swap or anything like that so no corvette rear ends or ifs clip swaps. Just looking for stuff that will bolt onto my truck with the drop it has.

My truck didn't have sway bars from the factory so I'm wondering what junkyard bars I can score or point me to some good aftermarket ones that work and are quality.

Seems to me like kits are there for 72 and older and not much for 73-87 unless you want drop not so much on handling. I've a got somewhere around a 5F/5R drop on my 84 SB. I don't want to go bag either.

Picking up a set of 20 inch Chrome Boss 304 wheels and it got my gears turning. I like being able to take corners at speed. Thanks

There is project cannonball in the projects section that pretty cool. I know nate builds a front and rear setup for pro touring with coilovers instead of bags. (PorterBuilt) I have been wanting to do this on my last couple of these but my wallet keeps telling me no for some reason. You can get a front and rear swaybar off a one ton dually and it will help tremendously.

The Porterbuilt rear setup or any truck arm or trailing arm will help hook the rear end. Leaf springs are just really sloppy for corner carving. Air bags can actually handle better too, but there's also coilover option as well. Get just about any tubular front control arms with adjustment and 'thane bushings, then add sways. Aadco makes good aftermarket bars that are very reasonably priced, but you can also salvage bars from Suburbans and 1 ton trucks too...

Re: Whos got a pro touring style truck?

How thick are the 1 ton/suburban bars? Just so I make sure I get a set. You know how most of these old trucks are.

If it came to doing a truck arm setup who has the one least involved to put in. I know there will be welding but trying to keep my truck on the road also.

I'll have to shop around for the tubular a arms though. I've heard a lot of good and a lot of bad just not sure which company really makes good stuff.

I robbed a 1 1/4 front sway bar from a C30 to replace the 1 1/16 on my 85 c10.

Worked out nice with some urethane bushings.

Go to to the Suspension section and read thru the "Make It Handle" thread.

Rob at No Limit has some great advise and his company make some great stuff that can be used.
