Rear cab mount shackles 51 AD
Hey all. Got a cab mount kit from LMC and started to rebuild the rear cab mount shackles. The new rubber bushings are smaller in diameter and longer than needed. They fit the studs fine but the OD is too small. Sloppy in the shackle eyelets. The shoulder portion of the new bushing seems too small as well. Almost falls down in the shackle eyelet.
Should I use these or make new ones out of teflon or?

That's not going to work too well. Teflon might be a bit stiff in the rebound department but it should last forever.

The teflon isn't going to work very well or the new bushings from LMC? What do you think I should do?

The one's that appear to be too small won't work well. I think I have a set in my stash of stuff I haven't used yet but I never measured mine.
The Teflon will work ok but are going to be pretty solid with no give. What about a sleeve to go around the bushing? First I'd give them a call and see if they got a bad batch or something though.

Re: Rear cab mount shackles 51 AD
Might not help you Sid, but I got rid of the shackle mounts and made mounts that are similar to the front mounts. Worked great.

Hey Josh! Good to hear from ya.
The new bushing measure 1.14" long and 0.822" diam. The shoulder is 0.200 thick and 0.950 in diam. The portion that goes into the shackle is 0.920" long.

Re: Rear cab mount shackles 51 AD
The bushing gets pushed into the "tube" like hole on the shackle, if they are too long and too thin, aren't they going to get "fattened" when they are smashed as the bolt is tightened?
I rebuilt mine years ago and don't remember but it's common for the tightening of the bolt on something like that to simply "force" the rubber piece to fit properly by smashing it in there. Brian

Re: Rear cab mount shackles 51 AD
I did assemble the shackle and the new rubber did squish in the shackle. It seemed tight afterwards. That's why I thought I'd ask on here and see if anyone else experienced this.
Thanks Brian.

Re: Rear cab mount shackles 51 AD
I must have been on the phone. I heard a beep indicating an incoming call when I was chatting with a guy that has front fenders for sale. Are you around during the day? I'm off today.
