Very Base Highlander

Here's an example of a Highlander with most of the perks included in the package deleted. It's much like my first one of these trucks. Mine was a solid Ochre 402/3spd with no a/c. You don't see this much since the whole Highlander deal was about offering a savings on an options package. Kinda defeats the purpose but creates a fairly unique truck in the process.

good catch. it appears to be the A pkg, a YG6 - never have seen one of those before. Folks usually opted for the B or C pkg iot get a little more for their packaged savings punch. Interesting paint color choice to have an avocado seat.

Re: Very Base Highlander

It still represented a $94.50 savings for the package options included over buying them seperately. In fact they saved enough with the package to add the power brakes and a 350 (up from the stock 307) for free.
1/ Highlander plaid trim upgrade and added black carpet.
2/ Special wheel covers
3/ Custom Deluxe trim package
4/ Chromed front bumper
5/ Upper/belt molding
6/ Door edge guards
7/ Below-Eye-Line mirrors

On top of the Promo Package A they optioned
8/ 350 V-8
9/ Power brakess
10/ Heavy rear springs
11/ Tinted glass
12/ Gauges
13/ Conventional Two-Tone paint

You certainly don't run across many YG6 trucks, most seem to be a 7 or 8. All in all a nice little truck with some affordable flash.
The Avacodo goes well enough with the med green not to look out of place and has far more definition than the gray plaid would have.

I wish my '72 SWB Fleetside Highlander would have survived. Solid ochre, grey plaid,402/3spd/posi,tach,upper trim, and wood floor. Bought in '73,enjoyed a couple years, then t-boned by a red light runner in '75

My husband has a '72 C10 long bed, 307 V-8 YG7 Highlander. He bought it at an auction in 2008 (all original, great condition, one owner). It was "Medium Green" with the avocado plaid (and ordered that way according to the receipts). "Interesting", to put it nicely. He had it painted in '09 to more of a "grass green" with a subtle metallic that's only visible in sunlight. I voted for keeping it original, no matter how "interesting", but all his brothers and uncles voted for the change. Unfortunately, we didn't take any "before" pictures!

Here you go. Is this close enough for a before picture? :-)
Feel free to post up a picture of the truck now, as we love pictures here.
Welcome to the board!
