Carb'd LS swap A/C options
I am starting two nearly identical threads, each of a different subject because I feel it would be better to resolve the questions, or provide proper answers to specific questions without the jumble. One is Cruise Control, the other is A/C related.
I am planning to finally put the LS1 that has been in storage for almost a year in my truck. I have a few questions. For starters i am going the easy and cheaper way out. I am going to put an eldebrock carborated intake on it and use the carb currently under my hood on the LS1. Pretty much all the electrical under the dash and under hood has been stripped out. The gauge cluster wires will be replaced from scratch and any non-essential stuff removed, I am planning a autometer gauge assortment. I am running a 700r4 that required no extra wires, modules, or speedometer cable bull crap. for a lack of better description consider it a turbo 350 with auto-magic overdrive. All of this installed into my 75 c-10. The main questions or concerns are about the A/C. 1) The LS comes with an AC pump that is mounted VERY low. I have been seeing some different accessory mounts that can relocate the A/C pump up top like the standard square style. Which mounting system is the better option? 2) while i intend (if at all possible) to use the new updated A/C pump, i am wondering what other parts need to be installed that allow me to use the newer pump on the older cab? The best description i have for the existing under hood components would be that there are none. the truck is/was an A/C cab but all of the rubber lines disintegrated long ago and the aluminum lines are all open and i suspect they are full of muck from years of sitting open. I have also seen a few builds were the A/C pump aluminum line manifolds have needed to be reworked or completely rebuilt from parts/scrap. Assuming my welder buddy could fab up the lines to go where needed, is there any reason why this should not be done? Is there someone that offers replacement lines for a square with LSx? I wont even claim to know the first thing about A/C, whos kidding? does anyone know for sure the best route to go considering the condition of my components? It is getting hot, 103 today, and my A/C is non-existant. HELP! lol Thanks, Izzy.

Most brackets i have seen used was http://www.kwikperf.com/ And any good ac shop should be able to fab up new ac lines to the compressor for you.

Re: Carb'd LS swap A/C options
There are several threads about this in the LSx swap file one the main page. Some are very detailed.
I went with the stocker location, some trimming needed along with new lines but overall, no big probs.
