Re: 55' Cameo Build!!!

So I was working on my buds car in the garage yesterday and came to a stopping point with a little time left. I got tired of seeing the engine just sitting there, so I decided to clean it up and wipe it down some. I miss seeing the old small block in the bay. It definitely needs some new paint and some seals but boy does it look good!! ;-)

Re: 55' Cameo Build!!!

Thank you. I just finished getting one of our other cars clutch installed and back on the road. Hopefully soon I can find sometime to do something to the truck. The good news for me is the faster I knock out the other cars, the more time and space I have for the Cameo.

Re: 55' Cameo Build!!!

Very nice truck!! Love the big back window, if I find one I will graft it into mine. Your truck is screaming for a LQ4 cammed with a 6 speed auto??? Hint hint

Re: 55' Cameo Build!!!

Well it has been another long pause since I've been here and updated. Life has its way of taking it's tolls. but good new for me is 2 out of the 3 cars keeping me from the truck are done. 1 left.

But since I have been taking a break for the truck and not being able to work on it, I have at least been collecting parts for it to keep me happy. The biggest and best change for the truck came in this!!

I am now a member of the LS club and got me a LQ4 from a 2004 GMC Denali.

Motor came with what you see here. Pan to intake all complete with acc. I am missing the harness, maf and computer. You may wonder whats in the boxes then. Well.......

She'll be bottle feed as well Kit can do up to a 200 shot. I'll prob do a 170-180 shot. I plan do do a healthy cam, with all the bolts on and a custom tune with HPT

I have a bunch of other parts ordered waiting to come in and some sitting around and I'll get some pics of those tomorrow. So now I'm looking for parts to put this motor in like motor mounts, oil pan, harness, etc. It feels good to actual have money to spend on the truck and take my time to order what I want. I'm guessing in about a month or so I will start on the truck again. I'm crossing my fingers I can get it done before the end of the year. I will focus more on the complete drive train/suspension like I said before and little on cosmetic for right now.

Re: 55' Cameo Build!!!

Nice motor should be an LQ9 if it's from a denali.

Re: 55' Cameo Build!!!

From what I gathered in my research, the LQ4 and LQ9 both came in the Denali.

I pulled a plug to check the piston, and this one is dished, plus has a brake booster hose hook up on the intake, so that means its and LQ4. No worries as this motor will see lots of upgrades for good power!

So like i said before, I haven't been working on the truck, but I have been gathering some parts for it at least.

Got the flywheel spacer to bolt my TH350 to the motor

Picked up a sway bar from CPP for the front. Its a lot smaller then expected. I thought I got the 1'' , but guess not. Maybe I can exchange or sell this one.

Since I have a Cameo I decided i want to do the window trim on the cab and doors. Picked up some door trim for $25 off Ebay. Needs some holes filled but no worries to me.

A buddy of mine bought these covers for his GTO but they didn't fit, so he passed them along to me. Should go well with what I have planned for shaving the truck intake

I'm excited about these. I've finally got the speedo and tach to finish off the gauge set I've had for years. Only took me 15 years to get haha. All I have left to buy will be a wideband and maybe boost or N02 gauge

Last but not least I got myself some nice seats for the truck. Came out of a Saturn Ion Redline/Chevy Cobalt SS. Very nice somfertable seats, as my wife owns a Redline and I like them a lot. I'll plan to get/make some kinda center seat to bridge the gap.
