Driveshaft Question

I searched and didn't come up with the exact answer I was looking for. I am converting my engine and transmission in my 64 LWB to an LS/5 spd. The factory driveshaft is too long. I measured and it seems like the driveshaft from a colorado would fit, but it is a 1 piece. My question is, Why will a 1 piece driveshaft not work? Will it hit the crossmember during suspension travel? If so, will a porterbilt crossmember fix that?

Re: Driveshaft Question

Having a driveshaft shortened is relatively inexpensive. But if your current driveshaft is the light duty assembly, I would definitely change it to something else. I can not answer your question about a one piece in a LWB, since I would not convert a long bed, I would stay with a the HD 2 piece. Many others will disagree with me.

You may get lucky and the Colorado driveshaft may work correctly.
