Help, 1966 C60 replacing turn signal switch

Here I thought this was a straight forward job but I cannot for the life of me get the old one out. Wheel is removed and the old one will not budge. It looks like their may be a retaining clip on the column shaft that needs to be removed but I see no way to get to it....help please

Finally got it out, the clip was tucked behind the bearing so I made some picks to get to it. This was an original switch, never been touched before.
