Recommend some door panels.
I am going to have to buy some new door panels. Any experience good or bad?...
These look OK, but not sure I like the insert. https://www.classicindustries.com/co...catId=0&ca=add

Re: Recommend some door panels.
My opinion, those repop door panels are junk. My truck came eight them and I thought they were terrible, very thin and brittle. My advice, track a clean set down at a yard and spruce them up with some vinyl paint.

Man too bad, out west here most of the trucks at the yards were power for the most part.

Re: Recommend some door panels.
I have a good passenger side, but the drivers side is beyond repair. I have found several for a suburban, or crew cab, but they have the four spots for the PW...I saw a set sell here for around $300...if you can find a good set grab them....

Wow, I want to say 20 bucks a door tops here. Might have to start collecting those.

I had some as well, The part where the window felt attatches broke off within a week, the break started at the opening for the door lock.

Re: Recommend some door panels.
You have a couple of options here, you could find a drivers panel that had a crank and cut that hole square for one switch and then measure the second hole you'll need and cut that one. If you measure carefully it will be extremely hard to tell that it wasn't a power door panel in the first place. (Remember that GM just made one type of panel and punched out the holes as needed for whichever type of truck it was).
Second option is to recover a set with vinyl. Connor Sweet is a board member here and he did two sets for me -- both turned out perfect.

Re: Recommend some door panels.
Ebay. Get a good driver's side off ebay, and recover them with vinyl or something similar. I'm a little scared of the SEM paint route. If you don't get it perfect the first time, there will be trouble.
Also, covering the door panels in vinyl will cover up a lot of flaws, if they aren't too wavy from the sun. Just contact cement them or something, maybe take them to an auto upholstery shop and have them do it. Many modern vehicles have covered door panels so it certainly wouldn't be weird or anything. |

Re: Recommend some door panels.
I bought some last summer and had them installed by my body shop owner friend. No problems yet and so far, I'm happy with them. GTT
