I think eBay is the best tool ever for determining value. If you log in and choose "completed items" in a search for similar trucks (make sure you're looking at other 3600 longbeds though) Items with the dollar amount in green are ones that actually sold. To me, it's the best way to tell value because it shows exactly what someone was willing to pay for that item.
Good luck. That thing is on the other side of the planet from you, so don't forget to factor in shipping costs.

Re: NOT MINE but what is this 51 5 window worth?

At first I thought, "it's all there and it LOOKS like the engine's a fresh rebuild." But after reading the description there are some clues that the Seller doesn't know much about working on cars/trucks. He "had" the carburetor rebuilt.... an uber simple single barrel carb? And he says he likes working on cars? He covered up rust issues with bondo and hopes he "cured it"? Not hardly. He replaced a 235 with a 216? Why would you do that unless you were going for an authentic restoration? Nothing wrong with that but if you were doing that why paint it Chevy orange?

I don't think a 3600 long bed is worth almost $4,000 in that condition.

Re: NOT MINE but what is this 51 5 window worth?

Somebody thinks it worth $3900 and with no reserve it will sell. I learned a long time ago rattle can primer is usually a red flag, especially when the seller acknowledges he is a bondo bandit. Nice aluminum radiator, good tires, reasonable interior, but you would be looking at stripping the body to find all the real damage. Also, no photos of the underneath where rust hides, he said bed had rust issues, what about under that plywood(?), frame, etc. You get two engines but if upgrade to v8 and different trans and rear end is the plan that means nothing. 216 does have some nice speed goodies on it to recoup your investment. I think 4K is right at the high end with the rust issues.

It's at $5200 now...that's crazy for that truck. You can buy restored in mint condition for $10-15gs lol

He also states that the 235 is the original engine but they didn't come in the lighter trucks such as the one for auction until they were made standard across the board in 1954.
