Pertronix dist help

I could use some help with installing the Pertronix billet dist. in the new engine I am installing in my '68 C10.
I've already installed a Jeg's starter because I discovered the 283 starter I took off was not compatable with the 350 crate engine. I taped up the wire going to the "R" terminal on the solenoid.
Now my question as to the new dist. can I wire it up to the coil as shown or do I need to wire it up differently because of the resistance or ballast wire as stated in the directions?
Thanks!

Re: Pertronix dist help

I have five Pertronix, all wired to the coil. I know the manufacturer has a reason for bypassing the resistor wire, but for my needs, I haven't found a problem.

When I did the first one, I checked for voltage through the resistor, and it met Pertronix specs so I wired to the coil. If your battery gets a little low the Pertronix will not function.

If nothing else, wire it though the coil and resistor wire, and if you have a problem, do it their way.

Re: Pertronix dist help

You need a full 12 VDC. Existing resistor wire only give's you 6/7 VDC.

Re: Pertronix dist help

Just an update I ran a new wire from the fuse box to the coil.
So far so good but I couldn't finish breaking in the cam because of a leak at the bottom trans line at the radiator.
