New member introduction
Hello I'm new to forum I recently picked up a 72 k20 long bed. The truck was sitting in a local residents yard for the last 20 years, for the last 7 years I would stop every few months to see if the owner was ready to sell and every-time he answered the door it was the classic I'm gonna restore it some day. April of last year I stopped to ask if the truck was for sale and was told no 3 weeks later I was driving past the local scrap yard and saw the truck out front, I stopped in to try and buy the truck and the owner was keeping it and planning on restoring it. Lol my luck, about a month ago the owner of the scrap yard finally sold me the truck, it's sad to see how bad the cab got over the years but I feel that the truck is worth saving. Some where along the line there was a moon roof installed in the truck which leaked and rotted the cab pretty bad. I'm currently looking for a solid cab here are some pictures of the truck it's Very original.
It's a 1972 k20 Dana 44 front eaton ho52 in the rear sm465 4 speed no a/c truck. Numbers matching 350 runs great still trying to decide if I should keep the 4 speed and small block or convert to a big block which I have in stock with some sort of o/d auto or stick Trans. Welcome to the forum, looks like you're jumping in with both feet, but it will be worth it, I'm sure..Make sure you start a build thread, lots of us like to see them.. That first photo, is that the front hood support laying on the radiator?

Re: New member introduction
Nice truck! I'd keep the small block (running great), and add an o/d auto trans. Keep in mind that the factory never installed big blocks in k10s or k20s in 67-72, although many have done the bbc swap. Another thing to consider, it is required to move the motor fwd a few inches on a k10 in order to add some o/d transmissions. Someone pls chime in as to whether or not this same thing applies to k20s.

If the SPID is still in there, please share a picture of it.
I like the dark olive, parchment look when applied to the right truck and this one is right. Cabs are available in decent shape here on this site, so take your time and have fun with it. No matter what, share what you are doing in a build thread.
