I made a 400.00 mistake

I bought a rear axle but i did not measure the leaf spring purches cause i thought if it was comming out of a leaf spring truck it would fit. (NOT).
But now I need to know if 1971 and 1972 gmc and Chevy trucks 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive leaf spring rearends are the same width. Or is there a chart to show what trucks will interchange and match my 72 4 wheel drive C10 leafspring pearches. I have searched but couldn't find anything. Now I have a rearend that not going to fit easily like I wanted.
thanks for any help.

Re: I made a 400.00 mistake

Just cut off the spring perches and buy some new ones and weld on. Not too hard if I were to save $400. Trevor

Re: I made a 400.00 mistake

What he said.

But for future reference, 67-72 2x4 trucks and 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks both 2 and 4WD '73-'87 have 42.5" spring centers. 67-72 4x4 trucks and '73-91 30 series trucks have 40.5" spring centers. Shock mounts are in the wrong place for the early truck on the later housings.

There are no straight up bolt in housings for a 67-72 except from a 67-72.

Re: I made a 400.00 mistake

If it is really a 3.73, it is highly sought after.

No, they are the same. It sounds like yours came from a 2x4 or newer 4x4 per the info Mike C posted above. Given that, spare 4x4 67 to 72 axles may take a little while to find. Also, i think the hub face to hub face lenght increased sometime in 1970 so look for a 71 to 72 or check width to be safe. I know this is true for 2x4s but not sure on K10,s.
