Sony Digital Link System for Ipod

Ok, here's my issue. I'm attempting to run this setup:

I'm not using a radio deck at all, but I am trying to run an amp. My problem is that I can't get the amp to power up. I got power going into the amp and it's got a good ground. I have the blue remote wire from the Sony unit going to the remote on the amp. The Sony unit powers up and is charging my Ipod. What am I missing?

Check the remote line, see what voltage you have to ground from it with the iPod unit powered up.

you can also use a 12v+ to trigger your amp to confirm it's operation
then back to what panhandler suggested, see if the sony box is outputting 12v+ to trigger the amp
a lot of truck people here are asking about ipod or mp3 players without a head unit
so when you get everything figured out, post up a build and review in this forum

just to be clear... no speaker hookup to the sony unit
rca cables to the amp and all speaker/sub hookups to the amp
is how you hook that up

The light on the unit is red correct? If the unit is on (12V applied), a blue light will be on, but when in use and trying to play from your IPOD/IPHONE, the light should be Red.
Just something simple to check.

I figured it out last week. Apparently the ipod had to be plugged into the unit before it would give power to the remote wire. All is good and it sounds fantastic.

Well, I've already got it under my seat so pics won't be any good. I didn't wire any speakers up to it directly. I actually cut the speaker wires off. I only used the red, yellow, black, and blue wire. I'm running a 600 watt Boss amp off of it with two pairs of RCA jacks that plug into the system. I've got a pair of 6 inch speakers in the kick panels and a pair of 6x9's in the rear panels of my burb.



You plug your Ipod/Iphone into this cradle and then a separate wire plugs into the bottom of the cradle. The only thing I don't like about it is that you can't plug the wire directly from the system to your Ipod/Iphone. You can't avoid having to use the cradle, or at least I haven't found a way too.

Besides being able to have the cradle for hands free and charging, you could always run a $5 3.5mm-to-rca cable directly from your iPod's headphone jack to the amp's rca inputs.
