66 K10 leaf springs

Started my rust repairs on the bed this week, and after I got the fenders off, was poking around looking at stuff underneath.

on my leaf springs, both front and back, the lower leaf ends have worn a smallish notch into the spring above them, looks to me like this will actually stop the springs from being able to slide on each other, and perhaps accounts somewhat for the very stiff ride in my truck.

I looked at LMC, and it is ridiculous expensive to buy new leaf springs.

any used springs from another 66 will probably have similar wear on them.

So, trying to save a scouting trip, will leaf springs from any of the newer model trucks work? Or am I stuck trying to rehab these springs a bit? or buying new ones at some point?

From my experience, and maybe I missed something I often do. You are going to need to either rebuild what you have or replace them with a aftermarket part. I looked thru a few yards and was unable to find anything close enough. I wound up having a local spring shop rebuild mine. They replaced the bad leaves and re arched the set to match original plus 1" all the way around.

Re: 66 K10 leaf springs

A K series truck much newer than your '66 will have different springs with rubber bushings, which also require different spring hangers. A conversion like that wouldn't be too bad to do as long as you get a donor truck with the springs and spring hangers. I think the newer springs would ride a little nicer.
