I used a set of big block motor mounts out of a '73+ 4x4 with a spacer added on to lift the motor more. I'll go out and measure the spacer for you as well and try to get pics of the mounts and such.

As for headers, I have yet to make a set of headers. I'm currently just running the stock exhaust manifolds. Straight piped about 2 feet with purple hornies attatched to them and the truck is louder than my '72 c10 with headers and cherry bombs bolted straight to the headers.

The headers I plan on running are going to be custom made to go outside of the frame rails between the cab and suspension.

Re: 500 caddy big block and a 6spd...!

At one time member s_nova69 had his ex-motorhome for sale. A 71 C30 with a Cadillac 500/TH400 in it. In fact the ad is still up with info.
Might be worth a email/call for some firsthand infomation on the swap and performance.

This looks like a good entry level daily driver caddy engine for you! But you might have "slight" hood clearance problems though.

This link is for exhaust related products/tips on the Cad 500. You can buy their flanges, cut the flanges off of a set of big block chevy headers, work the ends so that they are square to fit the new flanges, and weld them on.

swapping out the cast iron exhaust manifolds for headers, swapping out the cast iron intake for an aluminum one....... you lose enough weight so that it's not much difference weight wise than a small block chevy http://www.cad500parts.com/catalog/page6.htm...... plus they sell any kind of aftermarket engine part you can think of.... cams, roller rockers, roller lifters, stroker kits....... you name it, they can do it..... and starting from 400 hp stock, it doesn't take much to push it on up there......

they also have your solution for your standard trans swap.... http://www.cad500parts.com/catalog/page5.htm

Cad500 guys are great people to talk with as for MTS as well. But if you try to get a comparison between the two, good luck. The both claim each of there parts are better than the other people's stuff.

I've done TONSSSSSS of research on cad builds and most everyone who runs a caddy goes through MTS. Now I'm not saying MTS is better than Cad500, but I've never yet to see someone order parts from Cad500.

Personally myself, I'll most likely be ordering from the Cad500 guys over MTS. Even though both companies know there stuff, MTS tries to sell you on there parts as for Cad500 will tell you how to set up your motor for what you want and how to do it and what parts to run all the while not trying to sell you parts. To me Cad500 seems more interested in that you have a caddy in a unique vehicle and that they can be helpful to you instead of just selling parts that you really don't need unless you're wanting BIG power.

Now back to running headers. You can massage big block headers to fit with some welding of new flanges, but like I mentioned before, you're going to run into clearance issues between the block and frame rails unless you make a set to run between the block and frame.
