Set up for a v8 too. My old man had a similar one for camping and elk hunting. GMC w Hydro, top speed 45 and didn't need 4 wd super low gearing and weighed alot.

That may have been used as a school bus right there in Omak as they get some serious snow in that area.
It's a real good thing that I don't have the money to bid on it right now or my buddy and I would be taking his truck and trailer to Omak and that alone would cost me a fortune for gas and feeding him. Only 216 miles from my house but his truck doesn't get out of single digits on gas mileage without the trailer.

Dads got 4 mpg in the 70's. They made a 200 gallon gas tank so they would not have to make a lot of stops. It was over 400 miles to the area they hunted in Eastern Oregon, near Ukiah. Used to freak out the gas attendants, they would be looking under for leaks, etc. It was a nice set up, real wood stove, full size propane oven/range and refer, two tables so it could sleep and feed 8 at a time. My wife and I used it for a Army discharge celebration trip in 1973, drove all over Oregon with our two kids bouncing around inside. Sold it in 1998 to the next generation of hippies, it now resides somewhere in the Willamette valley, don't know if the kid got it running. Dad put in a military surplus GMC 302 engine. I lobbied for a 454 but he said the six was fine, and was right, tons of torque. I could have kept it but did not have the time to get all the bugs fixed and could not talk the wife into taking part of the garden plot to store it!

pretty cool bus
 i need to scan and post a picture of my 1956, 44 passenger bus/rv that i bought in 80, had it thru mid 90s. it came out of eastern colorado, had a 2 speed rearend, 4 speed granny tranny and 396 from a truck. it would climb west out of denver at 65 mph and on flat land, cruise all day at 80 mph and averaged 10 mpg
