2 broken bolts...grrrr

Today's been fun. Lmc gave me differential bolts for the cover that were too long. So now I have a broken bold I need extract. Also I tried to remove the center axle pin and the bolt that goes through it broke. I have to pull the axles to Change the wheel bearings right?

I hate it when that happens. Drill it and use an e-z-out is what I usually do. And if it is an old bolt, I'll soak it in Silikroil overnight. A 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF also works wonders for freeing up hardware, and both are easy to buy locally. I get acetone at the drug store; women use it for nail polish remover. Acetone+ATF works better at getting stuck hardware free than PBBlaster under actual testing.

A broken bolt that bottomed and then sheared off is no fun. Be careful not to break the EZ-Out inside the bolt. Might be better to do your best and drilling as centered as you can, then run a tap through what's left of the threads, or do a Heli-Coil.

I have no tips on the wee bolt that holds the differential pin in. I have not yet had success removing a broken one.

I got the one out that holds the center pin in pretty easy. The bottomed out one for the cover had to be drilled and I used a help coil. Worked pretty well. The wheel bearings really needed brute force to come out. But we are still moving foward so I guess thats what counts. Thanks.
