emergency brake problem???
hey guys, the emergency brakes on my dad's 66 do not hold the truck. if I pull the lever all the way up and push on the truck while in neutral it'll freely move without any resistance. How do I go about fixing this?

Make sure the rear brakes are adjusted right, then adjust the emergency brake cable. It will take some WD or PB blaster to get the e-brake adjuster freed up.

You might also need new brake shoes. A '66 should have self adjusters, but they could be seized up.

I'd bet that the cables aren't hooked up, or aren't adjusted to do anything. Make sure that the cables aren't seized up and move freely before you hook them back up and haul back on the parking brake if that's the case, or you might be posting the opposite question soon after that...

Also, even if the cables are there, you might be missing all the parking brake hardware inside the brake drums. Very few of these trucks IME have survived with parking brakes intact...
