What's The Best Front Axle

Headed Back to Cali Been in Canada For a lil over 3 Months

The best front axle depends on how hard you will be using the truck. A '70-'79 Dana 44 should work just fine for most useage. Even a '80+ 8.5 10 bolt will do good. If you intend to work the truck hard, you might consider a Dana 60, but be prepared to pay around $1K.

Do you realize that the 16.5 tires are being phased out and there are currently only a few to choose from?

Yes Heavy Duty Maybe 502, 6.2 still undecided

Personally I would use a Dana 60 front and a Corp. 14 bolt rear. Just about bullet proof and large support for them. Ideally get them from the same 1 ton vehicle so the gear ratios will match.
