Frontend questions
He guys wanted to see what size rims and tires guys are running with a 3 1/2" front end drop? I just purchased my truck which has 2 1/2 drop spindles and 1" drop springs. I finally got up on jacks to see why tire is bottoming out into inner fender well towards the top rear and the rim is rubbing the lower control arm, with inspection I found about an inch of the lip already cut off the front of the lower control arm but still hitting rim. The tires on the front are 235 65 R17 and the rims appear to be 17x8. I am going to rebuild the front end since I have apart and lower ball joints look bad. I wanted to see suggestions to cure my problems wheel spacers smaller tires or rims or bite it and put on all tubular control arms, I don't want to spend thousands of dollars but willing to do this right. I want this to be safe as this is my wifes ride to cruises and I will have to answer if something fails. LOL

Re: Frontend questions
I'm running 20s with 275/45 on the 2.5 spindle and 1" spring. Every one in a while I hit a fender bolt with the top part of the tire if I hit the right bump. I have read articles on this sight about trimming the control arm but I don't hit it.

Re: Frontend questions
You've got a 29 inch tall tire there. That's as tall as the stock tires were. With the 3.5" lowering you have, you need a shorter tire. Typically, around a 26-27 inch tire is a good neighborhood to shoot for.

Re: Frontend questions
Thanks Kevin. Splains a lot for both me and Scotts72. Guess I'll get less meat next time around.

Re: Frontend questions
Thanks guys! I was thinking new tires and wheel spacers so I will try this first., cheaper than all new rims and tires.

Re: Frontend questions
No, but we get distracted by shiny objects. Here's my 67. Front drop is 3.5 in with 8x17 wheels and 255-60 x 17's
