Wiper/Blinder switch problem 1993 Cheyenne 2500k
Ok here's what's going on.
When make a left turn the switch stays on after I turn the wheel back straight again. So i have to shut off the switch manually. When turning on the wiper blades the spray comes on as well. And I can speed up the wiper speed and it still sprays. Any thoughts? |

Re: Wiper/Blinder switch problem 1993 Cheyenne 2500k
Your left turn return spring is broken. IIRC it is replaceable but you have to remove the wheel and then the turn signal assembly.
If your spray is coming on when you hit the wipers there is either a short in the switch on the stalk or in the harness. Get factory harnesses, either from the junkyard or dealer. The aftermarket garbage does not last more than a couple years at most. They use cheap metal for contacts and they wear out fast.

The springs can be seen in this photo. Source http://www.elcaminocentral.com/artic...oose_stcolumn/ Quote:
BUT there is not enough information to give a good answer. To start with: Tilt column or not? Automatic trans or manual?

Manual trans, I will take it apart this afternoon and update when I'm done.

Re: Wiper/Blinder switch problem 1993 Cheyenne 2500k
Ok couldn't come up with any ideas for my wiper blades. I got it apart but couldn't figure out what was wrong. But I took some pics. Here they are. I realized also that my hazard lights on the dash were staying solid(not blinking) but the exterior were blinking, when I took everything apart then put it back together it started to blink. Go figure.
Here are some pics, any help would be great. Thanks again for the info about the blinker sticking on and not shutting off. It was the spring so I guess I need a replacement. ![]() ![]() And I also wanted to add an image of how I took off the clip that's sitting under the steering wheel with a puller. You need some special type of puller to do it properly but I did it with the one in the picture below. ![]() Thanks guys! |

I'm guessing the switch needs replacing. Does anybody have any ideas about how to take the switch off and take it apart? I was not wanting to cut the wires. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks. Corey |

Pull the turn signal lever straight out.
Remove the pivot pin. Remove the switch whole with wiring.
