testing a fuel cell sensor?
Hey guys I have a summit fuel cell the my fuel gauge isn't working.
How would one test to track the problem down? It has two terminals and two wires on the cell. Any help would be great...I just can't get going on it...

The easiest way to test the sender is to pull it. Put an ohm meter on it and move the float from the empty position to the full position manually. Check the ohm reading at each position.

Most senders have a standardized mounting plate. If testing shows your sender to be the wrong ohm range or defective, you can replace it with an aftermarket 90 ohm sender, which will match your factory dash gauge.

Im kinda in the same situation... I have a fuel cell with a sender, but Im sure its a GM 90ohm sender (well thats what I ordered anyway) but I havnt got it to work yet. I replaced the entire wiring harness in the truck, I put one of the wires front the sender labled as "G" to ground. Then the other connection labled as "S" to my gas feed wire on my cluster, then the other wire labled as gas gauge on my cluster plug to 12+ volts. The gauge buried to the 5 o'clock area of the gauge. I only have 5 gallons of fuel in my fuel cell..... So Im thinking I must have got the wires on the cluster plug for the gas gauge reveresed. My notes my be bad, Im gonna try to swap the wires at the cluster plug and see what happens....

90 ohms! I am going to call Summit to see what I have....
They must have a 90 ohm one to fit their fuel cells... And I'll try reversing the wires but I'm sure they are right.

Hummmm. One of the wires must send 12volts.....maybe check for a volt meter first?

Gave up for a while but want this to work! lol
the gauge is good as it zeros when you ground the ground wire. Ground is good. sending wire is good. Says it is a 0- 90 ohm sender Stumped.... With the tank almost full it only reads between 1/4 and empty But it does move
