Dropping a C20
Hey guys,
I'm wondering if any of you would know how similar the front suspension set up is in a C20 compared to a C10. Specifically, how similar is the spring set up. I would like to lower the front of my C20 but the springs from LMC does not specify that they will fit a C20. Would this set up work on my C20? Also I was wondering if the rear drop shackles specified for the C10 will fit the rear suspension on my C20? Thanks for the input

Re: Dropping a C20
The springs interchange, and may drop more due to the C20's gvwr.
You can use C30 drop spindles if you use the C30 caliper too. I do not know about the shackles as I would of modified mine to trim my drop if I went down that road on my C20. I chose to make it a K20, and never got there. C20 stock springs are very similar to C10 drop springs. I had Camper Special springs on my C20 when it was a C20. They were stiff. Compound this with the 8 leaf pack I had, and over loads. I needed to use 2500 pounds to soften the ride nicely. |

Re: Dropping a C20
My truck is actually a Camper special, 1975. So I would be able to purchase the drop springs from LMC to install on my truck? I'm thinking about putting 20" wheels on her so how much of a drop should I go for?

Re: Dropping a C20
Screw LMC.
There are many better places to order suspension parts. Look at www.earlyclassic.com Give them a call. Or use our board vendors. Travis at ProPerformance should be able to fix you up. http://www.azproperformance.com/home.php www.performanceonline.com sells C20 drop spindles.

Re: Dropping a C20
When you drop your truck it is all about where you want it to sit afterwards.
If 20s are you target wheel size. Find which tire you want to run, take it outside diameter, compare it to your current set-up, and figure out how low you wanna go. If I dropped my C20 as was one of my plans I would of ran 17's with 255/50/17 / 275/50/17, and gone down about 8/10 combined tire/lowering kit. Which is like a 5/7 on a C10 due to mine being higher already. Also I would of bought the tires/wheels last so I can make last minute changes to my goals |

Re: Dropping a C20
How much drop do you want? If only mild drop is desired (~2"), just have 1 coil trimmed off the current springs.

Re: Dropping a C20
I have the same truck. Ended up bagging it though. I'd trim the spring if all you want is 2''. POL makes drop spindles for C20's.
I got a used set of shackes and hangers from someone off the board for too cheap to pass up (even though they are air baggit) and they are different from C10's from my research. I pulled 3 leafs when I did the shackes and hangers. It dropped 6 inches. Here is a pic with the rear lowered.
