99 C1500 Suburban Throttle Problem - Car Goes on it's own!!
At 1000 rpm suburban gets stuck and if I let off the gas the car will go on it's own - always staying at 1000 rpm. Is this a throttle body issue or Cruise Control issue?
Of course Cruise control is turned off. Thanks Guys. This forum has saved me so many times. THANKS to the pro's on here. |

No idea on this one, but my brother had a 2000 Malibu that did the same thing. He never figured it out though, just traded it in for a truck

It does feel like something is stuck. I also read online that these trucks have a gas pedal sensor of some sort, not sure what's it's called. I wonder if this could be the problem?

No pedal sensors on these trucks, they came on the next generation of truck. Check for the throttle cable sticking. I highly doubt its a cruise control issue. Any easy way to find out would be to unhook the cable at the throttle body. You may have an IAC sticking open as well.
You may also have more help in the 88-98 section. A 99 Suburban will fit into that range. |

Had an issue like this on my Dad's 2000 Silverado, shortly after he got it. The cruise cable end where it attaches to the TB got stuck and the cable was holding the throttle open. Just make sure both cable end spin freely on the mounting shafts.

Re: 99 C1500 Suburban Throttle Problem - Car Goes on it's own!!
Well it just started throwing a code PO430 bank2 so it looks like a new Cat in in my future. Tried Cataclean. It actually did work and the CEL went off. Nice product....but mine is too far gone I guess. Probably broke inside.
I'm thinking the bad Cat is causing my problem. |

Re: 99 C1500 Suburban Throttle Problem - Car Goes on it's own!!
Replaced the Cat this weekend...no more codes BUT...it still sticks at 1000 RPM. I'm see where GM put out a TSB in 2001 about sticky throttle and high oil consumption and said to move to a GM 12572717 fixed orfice pcv valve. I have the rattle kind and mine has always used alot of oil since I bought it in 2012. I've called every parts store and no one can tell me anything about this TSB.
Will this part number or AC Delco CV4000C (it's crossover) fit on my suburban? |
