Removed windshield locking strip...need to drive truck...safe??
I was going to remove and replace my windshield locking strip on my '73 K20 this past weekend with a shiny new chrome looking one. I removed the old one and did not get around to putting the new one in. I have to drive the truck tonight for a few miles to pick up some stuff.
Is this ok to do or will my windshield collapse?

I wouldn't take the chance. With that being said if you were to drive careful (no bumps, sudden acceleration, and definitely no sudden braking) you should be alright. But this will put you and others in danger as you will change your style of driving and your attention will be taken off of the road. In an absolute emergency of course you would take the chance and you may not have any troubles. But I say take the time and install the new piece for peace of mind

Time to call in one of those favors PU owners seem to accumulate for hauling loads for others.

It takes like 10 minutes to install the new one. Do it.
