Driveshaft removal

So I finally got a new driveshaft support and u joints from Classic and I have no idea where to start. Can someone point me in the right direction? It's a two piece driveshaft, if that changes how the process works.

Re: Driveshaft removal

Four bolts to remove the straps on the U joint at the rear, two nuts to drop the center bearing. Pry bar in behind the U joint at the rear to break the u joint free, pull the driveshaft back out of the trans. After you remove U joints, one bolt to take out of the yoke that holds the center bearing. It's difficult to change out the center bearing. At a minimum, you need a shop press. I needed a torch to get the old one off, and the press to put the new one on. Regular work to replace the U joints. I used my kit to press the old ones out, but you can get by with a couple of sockets and a big C clamp. Clamp and hammer to install new ones, then needle nose pliers to put the clips in place.

Re: Driveshaft removal

Mark everything before you take it apart. How the yoke lined up with the tube on the front one, the exact position of the middle yoke that is on the splined shaft (in phase), and mark the slip joint if it gets pulled apart. That way you wont have to rebalance it after.
