Trim question

A few years ago when I painted my truck I smoothed all the trim off the truck and welded up the holes. My question is, has anyone had this issue where they want to put the side trim back on and how to do it.

Could someone use good tape or some sort of glue to place the side trim back on. Becides doing a complete repaint and putting all the old brackets back on. Is there any solutions out there??
