No Seal Window Sweeps
This is a little write up about my experience with window sweeps.
I have bought these things from different companies and still end up with the same results. Here is the problem I am having: I'm looking for a set that actually seal when the window shuts. All the ones I've used haven't even came close. This picture is of a brand new door also so there shouldn't be any seperation. I've used GMCPauls and Classic Industries which both have top quality parts, However this seems to be a problem with me. If anyone knows where to find some extra thick sweeps, let me know! |

Re: No Seal Window Sweeps
I think that they only seal when the window is rolled all the way up...they catch on a bar that sticks out from the window....

Re: No Seal Window Sweeps
Mine dont seal with the window rolled up either. There is still a gap between the window bracket and seal.

Re: No Seal Window Sweeps
I checked mine, yours measures .50. mines .0395 (precision brand) and seals with window up or down. What is the total gap between the metal to metal door? How is the felt in the window runs?

Re: No Seal Window Sweeps
Have you measured your "New" door gap to an original?

Re: No Seal Window Sweeps
I have the same problem, there's about a 1/8th" gap. I saw some wide trim awhile back but can't remember where. I do know that the new trim I put in was narrower than the little chunk of original trim that was still hanging on by a thread before I tore it out

Re: No Seal Window Sweeps
Alright I measured metal to metal opening.
I am not within reach of a micrometer, but with a measuring tape both doors measured at 1 & 1/16" inch. The felts and rubbers are both new |

Re: No Seal Window Sweeps
I've used Precision and they fit very well. I've also used Re-Pops brand and could barely roll the window up or down as they were very tight. The problem may be your door gap and not the seals.

Just because your door is new doesn't mean it is made correctly. It looks to me like the opening is too wide. I agree with lefty double check it..... If you want the VERY best window seals make sure the vendor sells the "Original" "Repops" brand window seals. Made in the USA. Read this thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard//...d.php?t=493227 Read the whole thread, but be sure and pay special attention to Post #19 by Tim.... LockDoc

Regarding the thread you recommended, do you have a photo or diagram showing the strap connecting the inner/outer door skins referred to in post #23 by GMCPAUL? |

Re: No Seal Window Sweeps
Just like Leddzepp said I use re-pop brand and mine are tight to the point it's hard to roll the window up and down. I'm hoping the will break in a little but there is no water getting in for sure.
