Disc conversion manual steering

I am doing the 73-87 disc conversion on my 67 truck and want to keep the manual steering. Will the linkage from the 73-up bolt to my 67 pitman arm?

I think the way to do it is keep all of the '67 steering and control arms, except change the tie rod ends and ball joints to match the spindles. I did this with my '67 but with '72 spindles. You only need the spindles and attached brake setup, so you are adapting the control arms and steering to fit those spindles. I think you only need to change one of the ball joints, and maybe the tie rod end on each side. My tie rod ends worked fine from the '72 to '67, so I didn't even need to change them, but I think I read somewhere that the later spindles might be different. It's relatively painless, I think you have to move a brake line from back to front of the control arm is the only thing that was an issue. You'll need a disc/drum prop valve on the M/C though.

Yes. swap the center link, tie rods, and spindles from the 73+. change ball joints and you should be good, 67 tie rods do not work with 73+ without an adapter sleeve but 71-72 tie rods and 73+ tie rods are same thread but different ball stud diameter. 67 center link will not accept later tie rods.

so where do you buy the adapter sleeve for this??

Honestly, I just can't see how you wouldn't just buy stock height disc spindles/kit made to fit 67 from Western Chassis and be done with it.

I agree with rustbucket. If you're using donor parts the 73-87 entire steering setup will fit the splines on your box and the drag link will bolt right where the 67 drag link bolts up. I also discovered on a couple of my own projects the 71-72 3/4 ton stuff will do the same. The splines and drag link bolt up and the 3/4 ton outer tie rod ends are the same as the 73-87 1/2 ton.

mine came from a 85 silverado just unbolted front clip slid it under mine

Ya I put an 86 under mine. I just wanted to keep manual steering for some crazy reason. I will use the 86 linkage then.

I have swapped a few and in the time it takes to pull pieces you can have the whole old crossmember out and new one in and be drinking a beer.

the way most parking lots are these days i would want power steering im old skool to and love the manual but hard to fit in places these days lol
