He said the fronts have 5 3/8" backspacing, and the rears are 5 5/8" backspacing.

Will do. Gotta check them out in person first to make sure everything looks good.

I also came across these 17" billets the other day, which lend to the old school late '80s to early/mid-90's sport truck look that I like. Looks like they'd take a lot of work though to get them looking like they should.

Re: Wheels, wheels, wheels...what to do?

My 225s I had on the truck I traded for my current Tahoe made me realize that I'm way too lazy for billet. Every other wash I had to break out the polish and get the spots off the hoops. As much as I don't really care for the boss 304s on my Tahoe now, the chrome is a really nice change

I know what you mean. I've had issues with the polished lip on my BOSS 338's. I think I discussed it in a thread in the detailing forum a while back. I had asked about some sort of metal sealant to help with the oxidation/spotting. A fellow member recommended trying Wizards Power Seal, which he used on his billets. I bought some to try but haven't used it yet, since I haven't polished the wheels anymore.

I've been down the chrome road before & won't go back. I had two sets of chrome wheels on my old C-1500, both which pitted & peeled. While I had them in the past, now chrome wheels tend to be a bit too blingy for my personal tastes.

Nothing special. Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish. Only used it on the hoops, since the centers are cast.

Yeah, that's the thing. With polished, you can always put some effort in and get them back close to when they were new. Problem is that if you don't put some effort beyond just washing fairly regularly, they go downhill if they're on a car that's driven frequently. The truck I had them on was a daily driver, same as my Tahoe is now. Chrome tends to peel off after a bit, but it stays fairly shiny until then. Pick your poison, I guess.

I did love how my 225s looked, and I never had a problem with them standing up to daily use on a 40 series tire. For a relatively cheap wheel, they were fantastic.

Re: Wheels, wheels, wheels...what to do?

Sadly, I wasn't able to check out the wheels. The replacement wheels he had ordered from Summit didn't arrive on time, so he couldn't remove the 20's even if I had wanted them. I had hoped to maybe look at them at least, but we couldn't get on the same page with that either due to family obligations on both our parts. The only options would be to ship or meet him half way. Shipping is off the table for me. It would cost me a good bit just to meet, & if it didn't work out would be a waste of time/money. I was really hoping it would work out, but that's how life goes sometimes.

I'm back to leaning toward just buying the two rally wheels I need for the front, along with 4 new tires. That'll allow me to pull the 18's & sell them. It would also free up some funds which I could use to address a couple other things.

You need to check with who you ordered them from. The 225 wheel became a custom order only wheel early this year. Should only take 4-8 weeks to get them. Make sure who you ordered them from placed a custom order with AE Wheel for them. If you have any issues, contact Tommy at TNT Motorsports. He is a board vendor and KNOWS EVERYTHING about the 225 wheel. He helped me out on mine...

I did order my wheels from Tommy, but no matter what anybody thinks its not his fault! he has no control over what AE does....Its just a waiting game...

However, I did ask tommy if I can get a different set of rims using the deposit I already sent and he said what rims do you want ? so im very happy with that.

Tommy is a great Guy and always asnwers my questions.

Yeah, that definitely sucks about your ordeal! Hope it gets worked out soon. If anything changes with mine, I'll be sure to post here.
