That looks pretty good. What brand and color is it? I'm pretty damn talented with the rattlecan or so my wife tells me.

How hard was it to get the overhead part of the cab with the rattlecan? I had thought of using single stage paint but I might give the rattle can a shot first.

I forgot that someone had discovered a Nissan color match (although I don't know the number either), so I went to the PPG store with a door panel and asked if they could match the fawn color. There color scanner came up with Toyota Satin Cashmere #925450 as being 18 points away from being a perfect match. The paint guy said anything under 10 points is considered a good match. So from there we went to mixing in more metallic. He added 45 parts more metallic and as a result the color looked to be a pretty good match. I have attached a couple of pictures. On is taken straight on and the other at an angle. The angle picture shows the paint spot because the new spot reflects more light. I am thinking once I flatten the paint down 60% like factory, it will not be so reflective, as least that is my hope. But even it if is, I think it looks pretty good. I got this paint in Shopline single stage. My pickup is a 66 custom cab, but I understand that the paint is the same as the 65.

I believe the Nissan color is Sunlit Sand, by Dupli-Color. It's very close to the fawn, but to my eye, needs a little brown added for a better match.

Yep, Sunlit Sand code EVO from 2003. Good eye, I had forgotten that we did tint it a little browner on the '65.

I would use basecoat with hardener added in instead of single stage with flattener. The flattener can give it a "milky" look if you have to add a lot. Basecoat won't be glossy, the color won't be milky, and the hardener adds durability. I shot the '65 with Spies Hecker base reduced 50%, then added 15% hardener to that volume. You might have to add more or less hardener to get the sheen you want.

I used the sunlit sand base like Astronaut did, however I didn't add any brown. We shot a sample and decided to go with it, we mixed it with 50% reducer and 15% hardner. I wasn't overly concerned with an exact OEM match. In the pictures I've attached you can see the difference in color where the new paint meets the old. I'll finish painting the rest of the cab in the future. I didn't paint the defroster vents or the A/C vent and the color match is quite acceptable for me. This will give you an idea of the color and there is a slight sheen.

Looks good. It'll probably flatten out a bit more as it dries/cures, ours did. Being a different brand could be the reason it has more gloss than ours did.
