door hinge problem replacement

As you can tell from the photos the door swung open while in-tow and the spring popped out and the roller snapped at the bottom and if you look close at the top fender the door has a gap between the a-pillar big enough to fit a finger... the thing is the hinges look okay but i noticed the driver dr top hinge has a hairline crack in the seam sealer and I'm wonder if i should just replace the top hinges or get a hammer and beat the door hinge in a bit. And just replace the roller and pins... its my buds truck and only got a few days to do the repair and don't want a big gap once I'm done

Re: door hinge problem replacement

The quickest fix that will work is your local body shop.

Re: door hinge problem replacement

Removing the old welded hinges and being able to install the new bolted, requires to split the body at the spot welds at the door seal area.

... Not a DYI thingy

Re: door hinge problem replacement

When the door overextended itself by opening too far it bent the hinges forward. To bend them back put a socket or block of wood in the hinge with the door open and push the door gently like you are trying to close it. Go a little at a time till the door has a decent gap at the rear edge. Any body guy should know how to tweak a welded on hinge. I have been doing this stuff for 40 years and replacing that top hinge would be a very last resort.
