2004ish Silverado seats in a 65?

Who has done this? Do you have pics of them in and pics of the mounting needed to do so?

Re: 2004ish Silverado seats in a 65?

I dont have pix but I have a 2005 40/20/40 seat in my 65. You will need to drill new mounting holes AND back the bolts up with a 4"X4" plate for strength. Also I had to dimple the floor board on DS at the hump to get the center seat in right.

Good luck!

Use the search and you should come up with at least one thread if not more on this very subject. If you're referring to the power leather silverado bucket seats be advised that they will shorten up the legroom/gut to steering wheel clearance even with the gas tank out of the cab. I had to scrap plans to use a pair in my truck account of this.

Re: 2004ish Silverado seats in a 65?

i have a pair of bucket seats from a 1998 chevy truck in my 66, i did not put the center console in because i wanted to make my own, the seat does fit . you have to drill some new holes and it does move it forward a good bit, im 5'10" and it is a little close to the steering wheel . i also have the gas tank still in cab , if this helps out, thanks

Biohazardbill, isn't your truck a Suburban? I don't think they have the same issue of the seat being too close, there's lots of room to move it back in the suburban. That's the seats I'm looking for eventually. I voluntarily gave up the original seat in my Suburban, in favor of comfort. I'm still looking, right now I have a seat from a 98 or 99 Chevy, 60/40 I think they call it? It's comfortable but for comfort, I think you cant beat the later seats. I've got them in my 04 Silverado, the extra cab ones, like mine, flip forward to access rear . One day I'll come across the Escalade or Silverado seats in gray leather. with the shoulder belts. heated of course.

Re: 2004ish Silverado seats in a 65?

Yeah it is a burb lol... I have read though that these seats basically will mount to the factory outside bench holes, which the burbs don't have. That being said I am trying to figure out where the factory holes would have been if it were a pickup, then ill just slide it back a few inches. If that truly is the case it is much easier to try and get measurements and go from there than to fit and place on the fly... hope that makes sense.

Re: 2004ish Silverado seats in a 65?

They work great... some spacers for the center front sections.... and some big fender washers for underneath.... viola...

I had to drill all new mounting holes..... washers I have underneath are 3.5" OD, 3/8-16 clearance ID x .120 (11 GA) thick....

(2005 Silverado - same truck as the motor/trans)

All the way forward and tilted forward... plenty o room for a toolbox or stereo system (or fuel tank - boring)

Re: 2004ish Silverado seats in a 65?

I am putting 05 Tahoe seats in mine. Before I put the steering column in I checked the distance. I was able to move the steering column forward about 2 inches and I am going to get a flatter steering wheel.

Re: 2004ish Silverado seats in a 65?

Well i figured out why you guys say it is super simple and I am having issues.... dang burb.

There is a difference in floor pan between the driver and passenger side.

On the driver side, centered the seat on the steering wheel, outside of track is flush with the where the floor pan angles down.

On the passenger side, centered the seat on the glove box button and the seat hangs over about an inch or so, hard to see in the pic... the floor is different so people can step to get in and out of the back seat. This would not be that big of deal but the bolt hole has nothing to attach to.

Do you have any front and back pics of them? I am going to be doing the same thing and I am no considering adding material to that portion of the floor.

Re: 2004ish Silverado seats in a 65?

Well short term I am going to put 1/4 x 2 steel and let it hang over a little. Then weld in an l bracket for support. Ill take pics if it dont look too terrible it may stay that way indefinately lol.

Whats the slider rail look like? You may be able to relocate the hole in the rail to match your floor. I would also recommend these guys over washers:
