Question 72 C10 with 92 stepside bed wants mod

Hi everyone. I have obtained a 92 step-side bed to install on my 72 SWB Chevy. I'm doing some basic fiberglass repair to the damaged bedsides from previous. I checked out a lot of pictures of this style bed on 67-72 trucks and the only thing I don't like is the semi-squared out wheel openings.

Has anybody out there modified those to match the rounded front wheel openings? Is there a "patch in" style kit for that? It would be nice to do the mod on top of what is there and then cut it out. I'd like to get all the fiberglass work out of the way at the same time.

heres one that had it wells rounded.

to be able too mount these beds level on the older frame you have too trim a lil' off the second too last rear cross sill under the bed. at least thats how mine was done but it also had hockey pucks for bed mounts too help level it.

these beds also have a side fill fuel door if somehow you wanna utilize it.

I've seen a bed at a show that had the rear step eliminated I think that it might have been a kit. but helps them look "better".

Hey midnightblues-yeah that's what I'm talking about. I doubt there is a kit for that, probably just some precise work and elbow grease.

One of my bedsides only has one crack but the other one has a lot more damage, so I may experiment with the wheel well on that one first in case I ruin it; then I'll have to get another bedside.

Thanks a million for the pic and leveling tip.

yhea thats what i would do also you my find that the fibderglass on these is easy too work with and just end up fixing the bad one but if not the sides are very easy too replace just gotta find a good one.

i think on a 4x4 like above the rear part of the steps look ok but on a lowered 2wd cutting the rear steps(behind the wheels) off and finishing it looks alot better and closer too a oe look.

i dont see too many around with the rounded wells but if you ask me that would be the only way i would ever use one of those beds again the flat wheel wells really kill the look.
