1972 Chevy Custom10 in progress
Hi All
We are just doing a running restoration so don't expect to much too fast Our idea is to keep it roadworthy with little projects that should take less that 2 days at a time so we get to enjoy driving it more than fixing it.. We just got this a week ago and have already done the Brakes all around and fixed the rusted out floor... |

Good job on the rust repair, it always nice to fix a truck but never lay it up too long and not be able to enjoy driving it. Also keep the pictures coming.

Thanks Kerry
We did some more work on the truck and have decided to go with the upper trim line with the white between the upper and lower. This pic helped alot with that decision |

Re: 1972 Chevy Custom10 in progress
Thanks!
Just got back from the SF Bay area and picked up a few things from Vintage Chevy Trucks in Fremont. Brake booster and brackets, bed light with switches and wiring harness. Looking foward to better brakes for sure!! |

Re: 1972 Chevy Custom10 in progress
MY son and I installed all of the power brakes parts today, adjusted everything including the brake light switch. All went well and luckily we got ALL of the right parts required from Bill at Vintage Chevy Trucks...Thanks!!
THere is no "other hole" option on this set up but the linkage applies a different amount of travel for the booster. I can understand having to drill a hole higher up on the pedal arm if you were installing the booster direct to the pedal as you would need less travel to apply the brakes. The linkage does away with this extra drilling. After a quick rebleed of the brakes I noticed a little bleed port on the compensator and tried to move it but it is seized. Will bleeding it make a huge difference?? Took it for a run and although they are definitely better they are not as good as I thought they'd be...I still have to apply alot of pressure to the pedal... and it does NOT put me through the front window... Perhaps a rebuild of the compensator is in order?? or the diaphram is cracked?? Thanks for any input!! Bruce |
